This is an open agenda meeting.
Members can bring up any job search or personal development item they wish to discuss.
Items on the agenda:
    Review of last weeks discussion of "Navigating the State Web Site".
    Dave Babayco and Don Moore will discuss the results from last week's Job Journal Job Fair.
    Discussion on single page resumes.  We have encountered a lot of single page resumes at job fairs. 
    We will discuss the pros and cons of this issue. 
The personal development section will include several articles from Tony Robbins.

Getting a State Job - Navigate the State of CA Web Site

Luis Gardea will present an internet demo on how to navigate the State of CA web site. 
He will demostrate how to:
1.   Fill out the internal STD678 form contained on the web site.
2.   Demo on how to take a test to get qualified for a job.
3.   Apply for jobs using the internal form of STD678 or via creating a hardcopy by using a PDF.

Please bring your laptop to the meeting if you have one.

Standards for Reviewing Resumes at Job Fairs

We have 2 upcoming job fairs where we will send teams to review resumes for free.
This week we will review our standards for reviewing resumes and will critique various resumes.
This is to ensure that each member follows specific rules and procedures when critiquing resumes.
We want to ensure we follow best practices and ensure consistency among our resume reviewers at job fairs.

The Professional Development Topic will include a discussion of articles from the Business Insider

David Babayco will lead a workshop on the "Major Accomplishments" Statements as found on the resume.

He will also discuss the purpose and format for the “PAR”, “SAR”, “STAR”, and “CAR” statements.
Dave will define the purpose and the structure of these statements and review examples of each.
Dave is building new visual aids using mind mapping software to aid in the creation of these statements for our monthly Orientation Sessions and in-house training.

This is a continuation of last weeks workshop.  Last week members critiqued each others statements for clarity and content.
Dave will define the purpose and the basics of both of these statements and review examples of each.
Dave is building new visual aids using mind mapping software to aid in the creation of these statements.
Members will have time to work on their own statements and get feedback.
